More investment needed for insurance sales jobs training

Wholesale insurance firms need to invest more in training for sales jobs staff, a new report has suggested.

According to the Financial Services Skills Council (FSSC) London Market Skills Review, firms are undertaking campaigns to improve the reputation of sector in schools and universities.

London Market Sector Advisory Group chairman, David Gittings, notes that more needs to be done to encourage top talent into the industry through avenues that could include sales recruitment.

He said: "Training has tended to be rather informal, and the industry now needs to invest further in its people.

"Talent is one of our industry's top priorities, and we are seizing the initiative, with schemes such as online careers advice, leadership development programmes and the award-winning Lloyd's Graduate Scheme."

Meanwhile, Deloitte was recently crowned as the number one graduate recruitment employer in finance and professional services at the National Graduate Recruitment Awards.
