Candidates 'should find new ways to get noticed'
People looking to move into creative industries, potentially through a media and new media sales job or other position, should look for alternative ways to get noticed.
This is the view of Rich Wilson, managing director of zoo goo, who said that it is important for candidates to ensure they are displaying their talents in an innovative and new way.
Social networking websites designed for people looking for sales jobs or similar positions may be useful, Mr Wilson said.
He noted that it is important to distinguish between sites like MySpace that are designed for social interaction and portals aimed at business networking.
"They need an alternative [to the conventional ways of being 'discovered'], a way to get feedback and get comments the whole time," he said.
A report recently published by university think tank Million+ called for the establishment of a new Arts, Humanities and Creative Industries Research Council to be set up in order to strengthen links between universities and industry.
