Recruitment consultants join government scheme

UK recruitment consultants are working together under a new scheme put together by the government and the private sector to help people into work, it has been revealed.

A collaboration between the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC), industry experts and Jobcentre Plus will see the groups work with employers to give guidance on recruiting from the widest possible range of people seeking employment.

Employment minister Tony McNulty said: "In the past, recruitment agencies would have seen Jobcentre Plus as a competitor, but we are all in the same business - the business of finding jobs for the unemployed."

REC chief executive Kevin Green added that despite the economy heading into a downturn, Britain's workforce has a range of skills and talents that will drive the country's recovery.

Last week, Aorta Sales claimed effective recruitment processes are vital in order for sales companies to survive in the current uncertain economic climate.
