Security professionals 'to benefit from new collaboration'

A new initiative has been launched in an attempt to improve standards across the global security industry while respecting employee and union rights.

The scheme, forged in collaboration between security firm G4S and union federation UNI, aims to drive through improvements in industry standards, employment conditions and wages, while recognising that that a company's social and ethical responsibilities should be international.

Philip Jennings, general secretary of UNI, welcomed the move.

He said: "This agreement represents an opportunity for progress for the many thousands of workers who want to improve their lives through building unions and is intended to raise standards.

Mr Phillips added that global agreements are an integral part of a genuine corporate social responsibility policy.

Last week, Julia Porter-Robinson, human resources senior recruitment manager at T-Mobile, stated that UK workers should be more considerate to their colleagues in the current financial crisis and added that understanding how teams interact and maintain motivation becomes essential in a downturn.
