Work downtime 'important'

An expert has claimed staff should ensure they make the most of any downtime from work, which those entering financial services jobs might like to keep in mind.

Mo Shapiro, body language expert and relationship psychologist, noted that some employees have trouble leaving their work behind when they go holiday.

She claimed these find they have not "switched off" from the office and can find their mind and body is still in the same stressed state that it is when at work.

Ms Shapiro said not being able to switch between work and time-off modes can cause employees to not make the most of their breaks.

She explained: "It takes longer to unwind and we are not giving ourselves the full benefit of our holiday so we really need the downtime from work to recharge our batteries."

Research carried out by OnePoll for accommodation firm Keycamp discovered 67 per cent of people think their lives are stressful.

In addition, it found 18 per cent find it hard to relax when on holiday.
