'Optimism remains' in pharmaceutical sector

There is optimism regarding job prospects in the pharmaceutical industry despite the difficult economic climate, it has been revealed.

Research carried out by industry advice website PharmiWeb.com indicated 40 per cent of respondents from the pharmaceutical sector were optimistic about 2009, although 28 per cent were slightly anxious and a further 24 per cent claimed to be very worried.

In a statement the publication said: "Perhaps the optimism is based on the fact that the industry is considered to be more resilient than many others."

The portal went on to say there are currently vacancies within the industry for positions including health economists, drug representatives, medical writers and nurse advisors.

Earlier this month, employment site TipTopJobs.com claimed jobseekers are increasingly looking to work from home in the difficult economic climate.
