Graduates 'may choose insurance over banking'

More graduates could look for jobs in the insurance sector as opposed to banking as a result of the housing crisis, it has been claimed.

Speaking at the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) British Insurance Brokers Association east Midlands market forum in Leicester, chief executive of the CII Dr Sandy Scott said insurance firms continually work hard to locate the best talent.

He added: "Talent is a war that insurance cannot afford to lose. To maintain competitiveness it is crucial that companies are able to recruit the best possible talent available, while still developing those already in their employment."

Dr Scott went on to say the insurance industry is in the positive position of being able to persuade a generation of recruits that may otherwise have looked to banking to join the sector.

Earlier this week, marketing expert Mary Donato claimed employment seekers looking for sales positions should manage their job search effectively to ensure they stand out from the crowd.
