Sales recruitment: Dress to impress to beat the rest

Choosing the right clothes to wear is absolutely essential for people wanting to impress at interviews for sales jobs, according to one website.

The executive advice website TheLadders.co.uk said more than three-quarters of UK bosses would rule out a candidate based on the clothes they wore to an interview.

More than 500 senior executives responded to the survey and 76 per cent said dressing to impress was essential for success with their company.

Derek Pilcher, managing director of TheLadders.co.uk, said: "What you communicate non-verbally, your appearance, your body language, your demeanour, your mannerisms and how you are dressed form an immediate impression with your interviewer."

He added that a first impression is almost impossible to reverse or undo and what a candidate wears sets the tone for the rest of the interview.

Celebrity hairstylist Wendy Iles recently said that women need to ensure their hair is in top condition before attending an interview and added that choosing a fresh look is best.
