Retail sales jobs boosted by Asda pledge
The supermarket giant Asda has bolstered retail sales jobs by pledging to create more than 3,000 roles after it recorded improving sales figures for the second quarter in a row.
At least 3,600 vacancies will be made available by Asda before the end of the year and the company has joined a Sun newspaper-backed campaign to create more UK jobs.
Asda chief executive Andy Bond told the publication: "We've still got stacks of vacancies to fill this year across the UK and we're hoping that, with the Sun's help, we can help thousands of Britons get back to work."
The new sales jobs come after the company announced its second quarter like-for-like sales rose by 7.2 per cent compared to the first three months of the year, when they rose by over eight per cent.
Retail sales jobs were recently boosted by Sainsbury when the supermarket firm invested around £50 million into two Northern Ireland sites in Carrick and Derry.
