Media sales jobs 'are on the road to recovery'

Media sales jobs are slowly recovering, according to one expert, who said that the advertising sector in particular should be back in the black by 2010.

Rae Burdon, chief operating officer at The Advertising Association, said that the sector is very tough because it is so competitive and he expects expenditure in the area to fall by more than 11 per cent before the end of 2009.

He added: "UK advertising expenditure is forecast to drop by around 11.6 per cent in 2009 before returning to the black in 2010."

The Internet Advertising Bureau (IAB) recently stated that online advertising will experience a purple patch in the coming years, with predicted growth of around 6.5 per cent by the end of 2010.

Sales jobs could be bolstered by the growth of internet marketing, spearheaded by search engines like Google, which retain a huge market share as traditional advertisers such as newspapers suffer from the reformed market.
