Hundreds of sales jobs created after contact centre deal

A Scottish contact centre company has created 200 sales jobs after signing a deal with BSkyB.

HEROtsc is reopening its Holt Park centre in Greenock which closed during the summer after T-Mobile moved some of the firm's work to an overseas company.

The deal has also secured a further 170 sales jobs in another contact centre in Falkirk.

Chief executive officer of HEROtsc David Turner said that it was a sad day when he had to tell his staff there was no work for them four months ago.

"We said we would work round the clock to bring new business here and that is what has happened. Our sales team has delivered and I would like to thank them for their efforts," he added.

Mr Turner also commented that 300 existing sales jobs were nearly lost at the Falkirk centre during the summer, with BSkyB stepping in to save them with a new contract, which has now been expanded, requiring a further 170 staff.

BSkyB's director of service Kerri-Anne Miller said that the firm is pleased that its continuing relationship with HEROtsc has helped to save and create even more sales jobs.
