Tesco to create up to 1,000 financial sales jobs

Tesco Bank is to open a new customer service centre in Newcastle, creating 1,000 financial sales jobs in the process.

Based on the Quorum Business Park, the centre will manage customer sales and service for the bank's home and motor insurance customers.

It is hoped that the first 500 positions will be filled by the end of 2010, with a £2 million grant provided by regional development agency One North East helping to attract the company to the north-east.

Benny Higgins, chief executive of Tesco Bank, said that Newcastle was the ideal home for its new financial sales jobs.

"The north-east of England has strong experience in customer services and the financial sector, with a well qualified and enthusiastic workforce. The city is a great fit for our business and as it develops we will be investing even more in the region," he added.

Lord Mandelson, business secretary, said that the new financial sales jobs would be invaluable to the north-east.

As a recruitment provider to many of the UK’s major banks, mortgage lenders and building societies Aaron Wallis have a deserved reputation within Financial Services recruitment. Their dedicated FS consultants recruit sales professionals across Retail Banking and Financial Services including IFA’s and Mortgage Broking.
