Dragons' Den star James Caan highlights the need for persistence

A star of a BBC programme has said that persistence and enthusiasm are the keys to finding success in sales recruitment.

James Caan, one of the entrepreneurs that appears on Dragon's Den, was replying to a letter from a graduate who is trying to break into the media industry.

Caan said that although media is one of the hardest sectors to make it in, people who have a passion for what they do often get what they deserve.

The businessman also advised people to try to get as much experience as possible to put on their CVs, particularly with smaller organisations, as it is here that more hands-on opportunities are likely to be undertaken.

"Do not let your enthusiasm waver. Get on the books of media specialist recruitment agencies and contact companies directly – people should make sure that they are covering every opportunity," he added.

Born in Lahore, Pakistan, Caan has forged a successful career as an entrepreneur, television personality and philanthropist, with business interests in a number of UK based headhunting and private equity firms.
