Sales recruitment boost as Leeds Arena funding is approved

Funding has been approved by the government for the Leeds Arena project, creating up to 500 sales recruitment vacancies.

The £10 million injection by Yorkshire Forward will be part of the £80 million overall project, which will give Leeds a 12,500 seat performance venue.

Pat McFadden, business minister, said that this investment is a landmark development for Leeds, which will secure hundreds of jobs.

"I am grateful to Yorkshire Forward for the hard work it put into the proposal to ensure their investment achieves the best possible benefit to the city and value for money for taxpayers. I wish the project every success for the future," he added.

The Yorkshire Forward group has already invested £5 million of spending, with the latest investment coming as the department for business asked for it to work with Leeds City Council to further develop proposals for public investment in the project.

Once completed, the arena will hope to compete with nearby venues such as those in Sheffield, Hull and Manchester to offer the best sales jobs to budding media professionals.
